More communities under mandatory evacuation

The City of Calgary has declared a State of Local Emergency.
Mandatory evacuation orders have been issued practically hourly.
The affected communities are as follows:
Beltline
Bonnybrook
Bowness
Bridgeland Industrial Area
Chinatown/Eau Claire
Cliff Bungalow
Deer Run
Discovery Ridge
Downtown/East Village
Elbow Park
Erlton
Inglewood
Hillhurst
Mission
Montgomery
Quarry Park
Rideau
Riverbend
Riverdale
Roxboro
Stanley Park/Elboya
Sunnyside
Victoria Park
Westmount
Windsor Park
Residents are encouraged to find shelter with family or friends for the next 72 hours minimum.
Reception centres have been set up for residents who cannot find alternate accommodations.
Reception centres have been set up at Southland Leisure Centre (2000 Southland Dr. S.W.), at the Acadia Recreation Complex (240 90 Ave. S.E.), and the Centre Street Church (3900 2 St NE).
SAIT has also open up its residences.
Calgarians are encouraged to take identification, prescription medications and other critical personal items such as prescription glasses or infant needs with them when they leave their residents.
Residents are asked to leave a big ‘X’ on their doors and advise their neighbours when they leave so emergency crews can swiftly determine which homes have been cleared.
Members of the Calgary Police Service, Calgary Fire Department, Animal & Bylaw Services, Calgary Search and Rescue, Canada Task Force 2 and The City’s Corporate Security team will be going door to door in those communities to notify residents of the evacuation.
Calgary Transit and Access Calgary are on standby to evacuate those residents who cannot leave on their own. Residents should identify themselves to the emergency responders going door to door.
People with pets are encouraged to leave them with family or friends. If that option is not available, people can take their pets to the Animal Service Centre, 2201 Portland St. S.E.

From City Transit on C-Train service
Due to rising water and flooding risk, Calgary Transit CTrain service is being limited to those areas not impacted by potential flooding, effective immediately.
In the south, CTrain service will run between Somerset and Heritage stations.
In the northwest, train service will operate between Crowfoot and SAIT stations.
On the west line CTrain service will operate between Kerby Station and 69 Street Station.
In the northeast the CTrain service will run between Franklin Station to Saddletowne Station.
CTrains will operate in both directions between the identified stations.
Service will be augmented by shuttle buses where possible.
These safety measures are being taken to eliminate risk to citizens by operating trains through areas where there is imminent flooding in tunnels and at switches in the inner city.
