Crews battle two alarm blaze in S.E.

The Calgary Fire Department is battling a blaze at an apartment complex on Hubalta Rd. in the S.E.
The call came in around 7:10 a.m. Wednesday.
Upon arrival, crews found a balcony on the third floor engulfed in flames and called a second alarm immediately.
Miles lives in the building, and tells 660News he saw the fire start.
“We actually saw the flames up on the top balcony by the fireplace, and then it went onto a balcony and hit the barbecue and then the propane tank blew up,” he says.
He called 911 and then went from door to door, telling others in the building to get to safety.
Calgary fire spokesperson Carol Henke says luckily, everyone is safe.
“Most of the building was evacuated by people on their own when they heard the alarm, however one person needed to be helped along by fire crews,” she says. “Two cats were also removed, and approximately 60 people were evacuated from this building and surrounding buildings as a precaution.”
Crews will remain on scene for most of the day.
No estimate of damage has been made.
