Talisman Centre could partially re-open next week

One of the city’s biggest recreation centres will hopefully partially re-open next week.
The basement of the Talisman Centre — on MacLeod Trail — filled with water during the June floods, damaging much of the mechanical equipment.
CEO Jeff Booke tells 660News, they still have a lot of work to do this weekend.
“We need to have our fire systems up and running and signed off and that is taking place right now,” says Booke. “We have to ensure that the mechanical systems required to circulate air in the facility are adequate and circulating good air.”
Booke says they’re pushing to have the track and the gyms reopened by early next week, while the aquatic facilities will remain closed.
Booke adds, they’ve had to lay off some staff, and says the timing has been difficult, because the complex just underwent a major renovation two years ago.
