Shots fired on busy N.E. street

Shots were fired in the northeast Tuesday night, a vehicle smashed into a tree and the suspects disappeared into the night.

It happened around 10 p.m. at Edmonton Trail and McKnight Blvd., in an area where there are a number of businesses, including restaurants.

The crime scene has since been cleared away, and police are releasing few details.

Danny, who’s staying in a home nearby, heard the whole thing unfold.

“I was sitting there watching TV, and I heard what I thought were handgun shots,” he says.

He heard five or six shots, and adds there could have been more; he says it was hard to tell, given the echo coming from a nearby hill.

Danny says he wasn’t startled, describing it as more of a firecracker sound.

There are no suspects in the case.

An update is expected later on Wednesday.
