There’s an urgent plea for volunteers in High River this weekend.
Mission Possible organizer Romina Sorathia says the number of people helping out on Saturday morning was down dramatically.
“Actually it dropped off significantly today. During the week, we were doing fairly okay. But, today I have very few volunteers,” says Sorathia.
Sorathia adds they don’t have enough volunteers for all of the homeowners who need help.
Shuttle buses are running between Calgary and High river.
They were leaving from Bishop O’Byrne High School and Mount Royal University roughly every two hours.
Buses have also been picking up students at the University of Calgary.
Sorathia says they want to recognize those who have been working tirelessly in the town for the past month.
Tomorrow is Volunteer Appreciation Day at High River’s rodeo grounds.
There will be food, music, and games for the kids, from 3 p.m. until 10 p.m.
It has been exactly one month since the beginning of the worst natural disaster in High River’s history.
Many residents in the town are frustrated about insurance claim denials, and what they consider to be poor communication from government officials.
