Calgary man dies as a result of weekend drowning

A Calgary man is dead after drowning in Central Alberta.

The 26-year-old was swimming out of bounds in Sylvan Lake around 7:30 p.m. Saturday when emergency officials were called to the scene.

Crews had difficulty finding the man and say he was submerged for around twenty minutes.

While en-route to hospital, he was able to regain a pulse and was later admitted to the intensive care unit at Red Deer Regional Hospital.

Unfortunately, Sunday afternoon the victim passed away as a result of his injuries.
