Preteen boy seriously injured after SW crash

A 12 year old boy remains in life threatening condition in the Children’s Hospital Saturday morning after the motorized bike he was riding was hit by an SUV Friday Night.

Emergency crews were called to the 1900 block of 10A Street Southwest just after 7 p.m.

The youth drive the small off-road dirtbike out of an alley, and into 10A Street in front of an Acura MDX being operated by a 16 year old male.

The youth was ejected off the bike and into a parked vehicle.

“The traffic unit is on scene and conducting an investigation.  There is no word on charges yet at this point,” Duty Inspector Darrell Hess tells 660News and says the boy on the bike is believed to have been riding with-out a helmet.

He adds the boy was taken to Alberta Children’s Hospital in life threatening condition with what appears to be a leg injury.

The cause is still under investigation but alcohol and speed do not appear to be factors.
