Paperwork lost in flooding creates problems for temporary foreign workers

Temporary foreign workers who lost all their paperwork during last month’s flood are worried they may be sent back home.
Most of Rodel Evangelista’s documents, including training certificates, school papers and his birth certificate, were significantly damaged in the waters.
According to The Globe and Mail, he is just one of 800 Filipino workers who reside in High River.
Evangelista’s status expires next fall and if his documents are ruined beyond repair, he will be forced to go to the Philippines to replace them.
The Federal government has recognized this dilemma and has granted immigrants a limited reprieve, waiving fees and automatically extending statuses until September 19th, 2013.
