Documentary shines light on Alberta hail storms

Those affected by Alberta summer thunderstorms may want to check out a documentary hitting the air Saturday.

‘When Hail Attacks’ will explore central Alberta’s status as the world’s worst spot for hail and the damage it causes.

Filmmaker Larry Day says his team used a lot of home video for the film and loved it, adding it has that real ‘shaky-camera’ feel as people chronicled large hail stones falling all around them.

Day says he became interested when he heard of the Hail Suppresion Project, where insurance companies pay planes to seed clouds in hopes of reducing the size of hail stones.

“When Hail Attacks” airs Saturday night at 7:00 p.m. on CBC.
