It’s been six weeks since Flood 2013, but the recovery efforts continue.
“There is still work to be done and our concern is this is starting to fall off the radar,” Frank King, a spokesman for Samaritan’s Purse tells the Calgary Herald.
Samaritan’s Purse, which has run a program responsible for cleaning up 500 flood-damaged homes with the help of 4,000 volunteers, is looking for about 300 volunteers to help with work on the Siksika Nation as well as continuing clean-up efforts in High River.
150 homes on the reserve were deemed beyond repair. But Samaritan’s Purse has 40 houses on the First Nation red-circled for restorative work. That work is scheduled to begin next Tuesday.
Anyone interested in volunteering is asked to call Samaritan’s Purse at 1-866-628-6565.
