Funnel Clouds spotted north of Calgary

The tornado watch is over for Red Deer, Ponoka, Innisfail & Stettler in addition to Rocky Mountain House and Caroline.

Officials with Environment Canada said conditions were favourable for the development of funnel clouds or weak tornadoes Sunday night.

Listener Dave phoned the Newsroom as he was traveling south approximately 26 kilometres (16 miles) north of Red Deer.

“Looked like the funnel cloud was heading westbound and thinning out so it’s definitely away from the highway. I couldn’t tell if it actually touched the ground,” says Dave.

There are no reports of any damage.
