First Nations to fight Athabasca project

A First Nations group in northern Alberta plans on fighting the Athabasca Oil Sands Project, despite making big economic gains from it.
Jim Boucher, Chief of the Fort McKay First Nation, said the Dover development will leave the community too “boxed in” by the industry.
According to the Globe and Mail, the Alberta Energy Regulator rejected the first nation’s suggestion that there be a large buffer zone separating traditional lands from bitumen extraction.
The project was given a conditional green light on Tuesday.
