Meteor shower could light up Calgary sky

If you want to see Sunday night’s Perseids Meteor Shower, your best bet is to stay up late.
Director of Calgary’s Rothney Astrophysics Observatory, Dr. Phil Langill, believes between 2 a.m. and 4 a.m. on Monday is the optimal time to catch the bright flashes of light.
“The earth is passing through some debris that was left behind when a comet goes around the sun. And, that happens around the same time each year, ” says Langill.
Langill says if you’re really keen on getting the best view of the meteor shower, he recommends you go to a dark location, far away from the bright lights of Calgary.
