Perseid meteor shower expected to light up sky

If the sky is clear, most Canadians will be treated to a celestial light show over the next couple of nights.
The Perseid meteor shower happens each August when the earth passes through debris left behind by the comet Swift-Tuttle.
The debris burns up when it hits the atmosphere producing what are commonly called shooting stars.
NASA says the best time to view the meteor shower will be late tonight, into early Monday morning, and late Monday night into Tuesday morning.
Astronomers say the most comfortable way to see the light show is to lie back in a chaise lounge and look up.
They say at the height of the show, you could see up to see up to 100 streaking meteors an hour.
