Mookie and Billie Jo tee off for Camp Quality Alberta

Lite 95.9 still has room for a few golfers who are looking to “tee-off” for a great cause.

This year our sister station is holding it’s inaugural “Mookie and Billie Jo Camp Quality Golf Tournament.”

The morning show duo is holding the event to raise money for the organization.

Camp Quality Alberta is a not-for-profit summer camp for children with cancer, kids in remission and their siblings.

It’s held at no cost for Alberta families, events are also organized throughout the year to keep that camp “spirit” alive.

“It’s going to be fun, there’s a Caesar hole, a wine hole and a hole in one for a Ford Mustang,” Mookie laughs. “So after you moderate your alcohol a little bit with one Caesar and one glass of wine you can go home if you get a hole in one.”

“You don’t even have to be a good golfer, if you just like to smack the ball around, we’re looking for you, we want you to put a team in,” Billie Jo says.

“We’re attracting bad golfers so we can look better!”  Mookie jokes. “It’s for a great cause and we’re not above begging, the way we look at it… you’re going for a long time without a long weekend… so if you go September 13th, take the day off work. Every kind-hearted boss will say ‘yes, great cause take it off’ then you still have Saturday and Sunday to do family things.”

The tournament will be a scramble at Lakeside Golf Course in Chestermere with a shot-gun start at 9am.

They plan to host live their show from camp property on Monday to see the magic for themselves.

For those who don’t golf but who would still like to help, there are sponsorship opportunities still available.
