The Calgary Police Service may have to foot some of the bill for the overtime officers worked during the flood.
They racked up 30,000 hours, at a cost of $3.6-million.
A provincial government official tells Metro Calgary the police service will have to demonstrate that the overtime was directly related to the floods before it would be eligible for disaster recovery money.
Flood-related overtime was nearly double what police averaged per month in 2012.
The head of the Calgary Police Commission says he came across one officer who was on the job 27-straight hours helping out during the crisis.
