Water rescues and House Fires Sunday

The end of the weekend proved busy for Calgary Fire.

A total of three water rescues and as many as two house fires demanded the attention of crews.

The silver-lining: there are no reported injuries.

Battalion Chief Ernie Molineaux confirms a water rescue at Louise Bridge and one involving two people on the boom at Harvey Passage, one of which was not wearing a life jacket.

“Water levels have dropped but there’s still a lot of issues with the river so we want people to be extremely cautious, be prepared. There’s a lot of people out there without life jackets and a lot of people with alcohol in their hands so it’s not a good mix,” says Molineaux.

A third water rescue earlier this afternoon included three people on the Bow River near the Ivor Strong Bridge.

The two fires within the city included an attached garage on Del Ray Road in the Northeast and the other involving a small deck in the Northwest community of Varsity.
