“Whose Line” star headlines 6th Annual Calgary Improv Festival

Get ready to laugh!

The Improv Guild is set to host another edition of the Boardwalk Calgary Improv Festival.

It goes September 18 – 29, 2013.

Colin Mochrie headlines the series on the final night of the show at the Jack Singer Concert Hall.

The “Whose Line is it Anyway” star returns for a fourth time as the festival headliner.

Associate producer of the festival, Mat Mailandt, says “our studio is located across the street from Stampede Grounds, so we were hit really heavily (by June’s flooding).  And, so, this year, this festival is really important in terms of trying to recouperate some of those funds.  And, Colin knows about that and he’s already expressed interest and his sympathy towards us.  He really does want to come back and support the city because he knows it was hit really hard.”

Groups from around the world convene on Calgary for this years series.

Mailandt adds two groups to keep an eye on include Chicago’s “Bass-prov” and Orlando’s “Sak.”

Last year, the festival attracted 1600 people on its final night, making it the largest improv show within the city of Calgary, to date.

Mailandt notes this year’s goal is to sell out the Jack Singer Concert Hall.

He estimates that would entail selling 1900 tickets.
