Zoo identifies penguins’ cause of death

The Calgary Zoo has narrowed down the cause of death for two of their Humboldt penguins.

Officials say the birds did not die of West Nile Virus or Chlamydia, as previous thought.

Tests show Guillermo and Juntos, who passed away last week, likely fell victim to the parasite, toxoplasmosis.

The Calgary Sun reports 10 other penguins are being given antibiotics and are responding well.
