Airport taxi program criticized

A city cab spokesperson wants to ditch the taxi monopoly at the airport.
Rupinder Gill, president of the Calgary Cab Drivers Society, says getting rid of a contract that gives Associated Cabs waiting rights at the airport would both improve service in the city and help out the environment.
Gill explains the 200 cabs waiting for fares at any time at Calgary International are burning a lot of gas.
The Calgary Airport Authority argues the contract provides good service.
Spokesperson Jody Moseley tells The Calgary Sun it ensures there’s enough cabs, but not too many.
