Firefighters busy with two separate fires

Calgary firefighters were kept busy overnight, with a couple of fires in the northeast.
The first call came in just before 2 a.m. in the 100 block of Whitmire Road in Whitehorn.
When crews arrived, they found a fire on the back deck. While still on scene, Battalion Chief Allen Ball tells 660News they got a call for another fire close by.
“It was less than a block away, we had some resources on scene that were able to respond over there and crews found a discarded mattress in the alley on fire, up against a fence. Crews were able to knock that fire down and extinguish it, really quickly,” he says.
No injuries have been reported and the house was vacant at the time.
Investigators are looking at the possibily of arson as a cause.
