Cabbies end protest at YYC

Dozens of drivers with Associated Cabs are returning to work after launching a wildcat walkout Monday at Calgary International Airport.
The job action left some travellers waiting in lines to catch a taxi.
The cabbies were protesting the firing of their labour representative who had complained about working conditions.
He’s now been reinstated and a mediator is getting involved.
The President of the Calgary Cab Drivers tells 660News he’s grateful to have his job back, adding it is how supports his family.
Rupinder Gill says a mediator from Liberty Transport Services has been brought in and will make sure their working condition improve, but his main concern is the monopoly Associated Cabs has at the airport.
“We will fight for that in the near future, but because of the mediation we have to go back to work. There are still a few other issues with Associated Cabs but the Airport Authority is working with them ,” says Gill.
Gill says he’s sorry to anyone who had to wait for a taxi Monday, but is happy with what they could accomplish in a day.
