Superstore workers could strike

Workers with Real Canadian Superstores in Alberta are close to walking off the job.

Employees in Calgary and Edmonton voted 97 per cent in favour of strike action to protest what they said are “intolerable working conditions.”

The United Food and Commercial Workers Local 401 said members are taking a financial hit because of reduced hours and it is putting customer health and safety at risk.

All of Alberta’s Superstore Union members are expected to finish voting on an action by the end of the week.

Workers could be on the picket line as early as September.
