Calgary man drowns in B.C.

A 25-year-old Calgary man is dead after drowning in British Columbia’s Shuswap Lake.

Mounties say five or six people were on a houseboat in the lake’s narrows area Saturday afternoon when the incident happened.

Kevin Boutilier jumped into the water to retrieve a hat, and despite efforts to save him, he sunk below the water’s surface.

Rescue crews have so far been unable to find his body.

Boutilier was an accomplished hockey player and was a former member of the Calgary Canucks, the Chilliwack Bruins and the Airdrie Thunder and Horse Lake Chiefs.
