Albertans asked to conserve energy this long weekend

Albertans are being urged to limit their energy use this Labour Day long weekend.

Power prices spiked to their highest level in almost two months Thursday, because of a drop in wind-generated power and a planned outage of a transmission line in B.C.

Temperatures are expected to be higher than normal this weekend, and that increases the demand for power.

Officials tell The Calgary Herald supply on the grid will be tight, and consumption will be high.
