Lightning strikes homes in Mackenzie Towne

At least three homes were struck by lightning during Thursday night’s scary-looking thunderstorm.

Calgary fire crews got the calls, all from homeowners in Mackenzie Towne, around 6:00 p.m.

Firefighters say at the first home, lightning struck a roof-mounted fan vent causing the motor to melt.

At the second, the strike tripped an electrical breaker.

The third house suffered only minor damage to the roof.

No one was injured and all three families were allowed back into their homes.
