NDP call for more inclusion in Alberta classrooms

Alison Redford needs to do more than march in Sunday’s Calgary Pride Parade; she needs to “walk the walk.”
That’s according to NDP Justice Critic Rachel Notley, who tells 660News, the Premier should change the Education Act, to ensure teachers can talk to kids about tolerance.
Notley says parents currently have the right to withhold their children from classes involving discussion about respecting all sexual orientations.
“We are the only province in the country that has that in our human rights code,” says Notley. “We already have the ability for parents to pull their kids out from sexual education classes, if they are uncomfortable with that. But, now we’ve also expanded it.”
Notley promoted her message in Calgary on Sunday, as she took part in the Pride Parade.
