As the athletes gear up for our province’s first major professional cycling race which starts Tuesday, you can get an early preview of the event.
“Making the Tour” is a 30-minute documentary about the Tour of Alberta which airs on City.
Executive director of the race Duane Vienneau says there will be 120 cyclists from all over the world competing this week.
It’s really important for people to understand this is the highest possible sanctioned event in pro-cycling. There’s some special classification for the Tour de France, but essentially we have some Tour de France athletes competing in the first Tour of Alberta,” says Vienneau.
Cyclists on the Tour of Alberta will finish the race in downtown Calgary Sunday at Centre Street and 4th Avenue.
