Heavy rain in the forecast

The dry spell is over; Environment Canada has issued a special weather statement for a large area of Alberta, calling for heavy rain.

660News Meteorologist David Spence says an upper level low pressure system that’s been parked off the coast of Oregon and Washington for the past few days will be moving inland and will end up in the Fraser Valley, just straddling the U.S. border.

Moisture will be pushed into Southern Alberta Thursday night, and into Friday morning.

The heaviest amounts of rain will likely fall in the foothills, but Calgary could be in line for 20 to 25mm.
