Celebrating a victory over alcohol, gambling, drugs and other addictions will be the theme Sunday, during Recovery Day at Olympic Plaza.
The get-together starts at noon with an opening address from Mayor Naheed Nenshi.
Then Sheldon Kennedy, who lived through the memories of sexual abuse during his National Hockey League career, will share his inspirational story with attendees.
During the three-hour celebration, attendees will hear other stories of personal triumph over addiction, there will children’s area, slam poetry and musical entertainment.
Recovery Day runs from noon until 3 p.m. Sunday at Olympic Plaza.
