The June floods haven given the governing Progressive Conservatives a shot in the arm politcally.
According to a new Leger poll conducted for The Calgary Herald, the Redford Tories and Danielle Smith’s Wildrose are running neck and neck. The poll gives the Wildrose the support of 34 per cent of the respondents compared to 33 per cent for the PC’s. In the last Leger poll back in April, the Conservatives enjoyed a four point lead before a series of political setbacks.
50 per cent of the respondents in the Leger poll rated Redford’s response to the floods as good or excellent.
But when it comes to leaders, Premier Redford still trails Smith who has 41 percent support, compared to a 37 per cent figure for Redford, and 30 per cent each for Raj Sherman of the Alberta Liberals and the NDP’s Brian Mason.
