Summer officially comes to an end Sunday afternoon at 2:44 MT.
Environment Canada is predicting a normal fall season with an expected wide range of temperatures and average rates of precipitation as the country transitions into winter.
Meteorologist David Phillips said Calgarians can expect normal to above-normal temperatures heading into October and the average temperature at the beginning of August is about six degrees higher then average.
“With records that go back into the 1800s, there’s never been a warmer September then what you’ve seen this year and that’s certainly followed on top of a really splendid August,” he said.
On a side note, this year is also the 10th anniversary of Hurricane Juan, which hit land directly over Halifax, causing extensive property damage.
