A worldwide celebration of German culture starts today!

Oktoberfest will get going Friday afternoon as Calgary’s mayor Naheed Nenshi and brew masters from around southern Alberta will tap the ceremonial first keg at the BMO Centre.

The worldwide festival has been happening since 1810 and draws six million people to Germany for the official celebration every year.
