As part the province’s efforts to reduce future floods, the Alberta government has hired two engineering firms to look over the measures of flood risk reduction.
Engineering consultants Amec and Aecom are expected to examine the feasibility of proposed flood reduction projects and the impacts on the overall watershed including environmental impacts and utility relocation.
Amec has 18 offices in Alberta and is an international engineering company, while Aecom has four offices in the province and is a global provider of technical and management services.
They are expected to submit their findings to the province who will use the reports to shape future flood mitigation policy.
