Hanson says truth about dog attack will surface

Calgary’s Police Chief says the truth will come out about an incident that left a Calgary senior badly injured by a police dog.

70-year-old Dave Loeppky suffered bruising and bite marks after police took him into custody on September 19th.

Chief Rick Hanson tells The Calgary Herald, the dog handler is “absolutely still at work”, and that the investigation is still playing out.

Police say they were responding to a gun complaint when they cornered Loeppky in a church parking lot.

Loeppky had called them earlier complaining of a suspicious woman in his backyard, and rhetorically asked if he should “grab a shotgun” and detain her himself.
