Three thousand white crosses are starting to be placed along Memorial Drive, in honour of Southern Alberta’s fallen soldiers.

The Field of Crosses project will pay special tribute Korean War veterans this year, and the 516 Canadians who gave their lives.

Each cross has the name, rank, regiment and the date of death of a soldier killed in action.

A sunrise flag raising ceremony will happen each day starting November 1st.

The crosses will stay up until Remembrance Day on November 11th.
