The snow strikes again in Calgary

It’s snowball weather in Calgary.

The city is once again under a snowfall warning and is in for 15 cm of wet snow.

Environment Canada Meteorologist Stuart Mackay tells 660News what you see, is what you get, until Sunday.

“It will be late Sunday afternoon when things clear out from the west. Still probably getting precipitation in eastern areas, Coronation, Medicine Hat and Lloydminster, they should clear out into Sunday evening” says Mackay.

Mackay says the centre of the storm is around Red Deer which could get up to 25 cm.

City road crews were out battling against the elements by salting major roads like McLeod Trail and Crowchild Trail before the snow hits.

Several tire shops around the city are busy trying to fit in customers for winter tires.

Northside Fountain Tire’s Kristen Ball tells 660News they are fully booked until November 14th.

“A lot of people who don’t have the tread on their tires, winter or a good all-season tires just don’t have the ability to stop in these conditions or stay stable on the road.” says Ball.

Other companies we called also noted they are busy.

Police say they responded to 37 crashes between 10 a.m., when the snow started falling in Calgary and 1:30 p.m.

Officials say they responded to a fatal crash near Vulcan Saturday morning.
