While donations are starting to pickup, the Mustard Seed is asking for more support from Calgarians.
The downtown homeless shelter is in need of men’s coats, gloves, hats, toques, boots, and scarves.
Director of Basic Services, Marlow Ramsay said the donations can also help those who can’t make it to the shelter.
“We have an outreach team that actually goes out into the community and looks for homeless people on the street,” Ramsay said. “They could help out with some things like winter gear, and snacks.”
Ramsay added while the Mustard Seed is near capacity — the shelter has never turned anyone away without helping them find somewhere else to go — including paying for bus fare so they can get to an empty bed.
