Calgary police have issued a warning over numerous nighttime break and enters in the northwest over the past month.
Police say thieves are stealing garage door openers from cars and using those to get into homes and steal goods.
Sergeant Davie Louie tells 660News, homeowners need to protect themselves.
“If you are going to park your car on your driveway, make sure your doors are locked. For safety reasons, maybe take the garage door opener with you and make sure all doors and windows are also locked,” he says.
Sergeant Louie says they are still determining whether the break-ins they’ve seen in Calgary are related to similar ones in Airdrie and Cochrane.
