Jasper hosts snowball fighting championship

Friday is the last chance to register for one of the most epic snowball fights of all time!

Snow will be flying through the air at the Canadian Rockies Snow Battle in Japser next weekend.

It’s the second year for the national championships, running November 23 and 24.

The idea comes from Japan, and yukigassen: the sport of snowballing.

Two teams of seven play together in a nine minute game, that’s a mix of dodgeball and capture the flag.

Kymberley Hill from Tourism Jasper explained to 660News, it’s fast, furious, and a lot of fun.

“It’s literally 180 snowballs per period, flying through the air,” she said. “I mean, that’s just a really great, fun, activity.”

There is no previous experience required, and the champions will go on to the world competition in Japan.

Part of the registration fee also goes to support Movember Canada.
