Murder charges have been laid against two teens after a Saturday morning assault turned deadly.
It began around 2:45a.m. in front of a 10 Avenue nightclub, and somehow spilled into a second altercation in the alleyway.
It’s believed the victim, 18-year-old Lukas Strasser-Hird was making every attempt to get away, as he was reportedly swarmed by what could’ve been as many as 7 to 10 people.
18-year-old Nathan Gervais has been charged with first-degree murder, while Franz Cabrera, 19, of Calgary is charged with second-degree murder.
Investigators believe this was a senseless attack, fueled by alcohol.
They aren’t saying much about what the extent of Strasser-Hird’s injuries were.
Acting Staff Sgt. Tom Barrow said, they are still looking for potential witnesses to help clarify what happened.
“We’re still taking statements from people. We’ve had a lot of people come forward, that were involved in the situation, and provide us details of their involvement, but we want to be able to assess how many people were specifically involved.
Police say additional charges could be laid.
