More fallout from the June flood has hit the Calgary Zoo.
It’s another blow for the facility that just celebrated its full re-opening Thursday.
The Calgary Sun reports hundreds of cichlid fish are dead after silt from the flood compromised the valve on their tank and caused it to drain.
When staff arrived Thursday morning, they managed to save some of the fish but it was too late for many others.
An official with the zoo said they had gradually been fixing the tanks as the parts came in and this was the last tank to be repaired.
