West LRT marks one year

Tuesday marks one year since the $1.4 billion West LRT started taking riders.

So was the new line worth the big price tag?

Over the last year, we’ve heard about parking complaints, and many people say the bus service in that area to get people to the train is too slow.

660News spoke with some morning commuters, who said they were thrilled with what they’ve experienced getting in and out of the downtown core.

“We are fairly new in the area, but it’s been a great commute for me,” one woman said.

A lot admit they’ve heard the criticism that the line is underused.

Riders say it’s usually pretty empty in the mornings, but packed on the way home.

“On the way back, its quite full. At Westbrook station it clears out,” Sara told 660News.

Most say it’s taken a lot of time off their daily commute.
