Calgary to host 2015 Tim Horton’s Brier

Good news for curling fans in Cowtown!

The Tim Horton’s Brier is coming back to the city in 2015, along with two other major events on the pebbled ice.

The Brier is an event that has boasted a great economic boost for Calgary in the past.

In 2009, it generated $21-million, with $14-million being injected into Calgary’s economy.

The total attendance was over 246,000 with just over 11,000 people visiting from out of town.

Greg Stremlaw from the Canadian Curling Association says curling fans in Alberta have always welcomed them with open arms.

Next season will be a triple crown year for curling in the province, with the 2014 Canada Cup being hosted in Camrose, and the 2015 WFG Continental Cup being hosted at Canada Olympic Park.

The tagline for the three events: “You gotta be there!”
