Christmas shopping was cut short for some sports enthusiasts in southeast Calgary Saturday afternoon.

The Calgary Fire Department has cleared the scene at Wholesale Sports in Deerfoot Meadows after a can of pepper spray was released.

The store was evacuated so the fire department could essentially, air out the building.

Police have not indicated if they will be laying charges and say signs point to the release being an accident.
