Snowboarder from Alberta confirmed dead in BC avalanche

A 29-year-old man from Alberta was found in avalanche debris outside Kicking Horse Mountain Resort Friday and transported to hospital where he was pronounced dead, according to Golden RCMP.

The incident happened west of Golden.

A spokesman for the resort said they assisted Golden Search and Rescue in the recovery operation.

The danger rating for alpine conditions in the area is currently listed as considerable, according to the Canadian Avalanche Centre.
