A Calgary woman wants to publicly thank an RCMP constable who rescued her during the storm Friday night.
Constance O’Laughlin says she was headed home to the city after visiting her horse at a stable near Airdrie but hit the ditch in the whiteout on the QE II.
When she called 9-1-1 for help, she was told to hunker down and wait for an available firefighter.
Instead, Airdrie RCMP Corporal Greg Tulloch got there first.
She says he rescued her and then stopped at every stranded vehicle to see if anyone else needed help.
When he couldn’t find a room at a hotel for her, O’Laughlin says, he drove her all the way back to the stable where the owners took her in.
O’Laughlin says Corporal Tulloch deserves a medal after everything he did.
