Calgary’s police chief is vowing his officers will keep the pressure on gangs and other organized crime groups in the city.
In a year-end interview with 660News, Rick Hanson said only through suppression can they curb the illegal activity of gangs.
“We have to remain vigilant in making sure that we are doing all we can to target these guys and get the evidence taken before the courts and hopefully see them go to jail,” Hanson said.
Hanson said because of Calgary’s strong economy and high level of disposable income, gangs will continue to target the city, looking to sell drugs or commit other acts of crime.
He said the force is getting better at tracking the movement of gang members, which helps when it comes to staying on top of things human trafficking and prostitution.
