As residents line up to get their flu shots, The Calgary Drop-In and Rehab Centre is taking preventative measure to make sure its own are protected against the flu.
Despite concern, Manager of External Relations Jordan Hamilton said it’s thanks to those measures that there here has been no outbreak at the facility.
While shots were given last month, they will return if there is a need.
“There’s so many people in such a small space, of course there’s always a worry that flu will breakout within our shelter, which is one of reasons we put such a big emphasis on prevention, we’d much rather prevent it than have to deal with the aftermath,” he said.
Hamilton credits the health team known as “SafeWorks” on hand, an initiative with Alberta Health Services.
