Body found in NE Calgary

Calgary Police are investigating a suspicious death in northeast Calgary.

A body was discovered inside a home in the community of Bridgeland, in the 200 block of 8A Street northeast.

Officers were doing a welfare check around 8 p.m. Monday when they made the disturbing discovery.

Police have not disclosed whether the deceased is a man or woman.

An autopsy has been scheduled, and the Homicide Unit has been called in.

Duty Inspector Nancy Farmer told 660News, their investigation into the suspicious death could be ramped up depending on what the Medical Examiner has to say.

“We’ve had our forensics team through the residence already,” she said. “Pending the outcome of an autopsy, we’ll be able to make a determination if further evidence needs to be gathered.”

Police remained on scene Tuesday morning, cordoning off the front and back of the home.
